Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn, Dated "1870" in Cobalt, Ohio origin, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with the slip-trailed date "1870," underscored by a looping flourish. Shoulder decorated with a script cobalt "3". Provenance: Laurence Fish Estate, Trenton, NJ. 3" x 1 1/4" chip above one handle. Small chips to inner ledge where a lid would rest. Small base chip on reverse. H 14 1/2".
