Scarce Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cooler, Stamped "NICHOLS & BOYNTON / BURLINGTON, VT," circa 1856-1859, ovoid form with tooled bands, applied handles, and circular bung hole, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt floral design with fan-shaped blossom. Long crack from rim on right side of front. 7" x 3 1/2" reglued wedge from rim with cracks extending from it. 5" crack from rim on reverse. H 12".
