Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "N CLARK / PARKERSBURG," WV origin, circa 1850, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and squared rim, impressed with unusual "N CLARK / PARKERSBURG," used when West Virginia was still part of Virginia. Provenance: From a thirty-five year Western PA collection. Spout slumped during the firing. Hairline and a few small chips in spout. Contact mark to front. Short hairline on underside, continuing onto base. In-the-firing chip and contact mark to handle. H 14 3/8".
