Two Whites Utica Stoneware Pieces with Bird Decoration, second half 19th century, a two-gallon jar with cobalt bird-on-stump decoration, stamped "WHITES UTICA," paired with a five-gallon crock with paddletailed bird decoration, stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y." Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Two-gallon jar missing handles, has top-to-bottom crack from rim, 2 1/2" hairline from rim, a stone ping on shoulder, and rim chips. Five-gallon crock is missing one handle, has rim chips, and has a top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, touching a 2" x 1" chip at base. H (of two-gallon jar) 11 3/8".
