One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1870, low-walled cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt leaf design. Unusual form for this maker. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Near mint condition with a small chip on interior of rim. H 6 3/4" ; Diameter 10".
