Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "KEESEE & PARR / RICHMOND, / VA," circa 1860, cylindrical jar with pronounced rim and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a large brushed cobalt tulip with open blossom. Heavy cobalt surrounds the handle terminals. Excellent color and bold decoration. Impressed with Keesee & Parr mark and four-gallon capacity on shoulder. Provenance: From a long-term VA collection. Rim chip with 1 1/2" line extending down from it. A few other minor rim nicks. H 15 1/4".
