Bristol-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Decoration, probably Philadelphia, PA, late 19th century, cylindrical crock with greenish-white glaze, decorated with brushed cobalt swags on the front and back. Includes Bristol slip lid with lighter glaze and cobalt leaf designs, probably not original to the crock. Crock in excellent condition with minor base nick and shallow worn chip on interior of rim. Lid broken in two and reglued, and has two edge chips, and exfoliation on top surface. H (of crock) 3 3/4" ; Diameter (of crock) 7 3/4".
