Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "S. PURDY," Putnam, Ohio origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with semi-squared rim decorated with cobalt covering the maker's and capacity marks. Excellent condition with a thin line at base of handle, a small chip on top of spout, and a 2" in-the-firing vertical line on reverse, extending 1/2" onto underside. Shoulder slumped during the firing. H 14 3/4".
