Three-Gallon Manganese-Decorated Stoneware Crock, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," circa 1890, cylindrical crock with lug handles, decorated with manganese swags and hanging flowers. Provenance: Descended in the family of Betty Cooley, the wife of potter Richard Franklin "Polk" Bell. 8" crack from rim. Chips and a 1 1/4" loss to one handle. Chips to underside of opposite handle. A pre-firing chip on interior of rim is brushed over with manganese. H 13 3/4".
