Very Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised House Decoration, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," circa 1890, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, cobalt-decorated around the shoulder with a series of stylized brushed flower heads. Incised on the shoulder with a house having two chimneys, windows, and a slanted roof. This design is underscored by an illegible name, followed by the word "Strasburg" and a stylized tree decoration. This jar is the only example of Bell family stoneware we are aware of with an incised design. Excellent condition with a small rim chip and a short line in rim. H 8".
