Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock, Philadelphia, PA origin, circa 1840, cylindrical crock with heavily-tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with cobalt fan-shaped leaves and flowers extending from a central stem. Cobalt line under each handle. Restoration to one side, including some of decoration. This restoration is also visible on the interior. Approximately 8" horizontal crack at base. Rim chip. H 5 3/4" ; Diameter 9 3/4".
