Ten-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Ohio origin, circa 1860, ovoid jar with squared rim and open strap handles, decorated on one side with a hanging leaf or fern design and on the reverse with vertical stripes flanking a large impressed X denoting ten gallons. Professionally restored handle. Very large 5 1/2" x 3 3/8" glazed-over stone ping near base. A few vertical hairlines at base. Numerous tiny chips to rim. Glazed-over chip to interior of rim. H 20 1/2".
