Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware jug with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with rounded shoulder, squared spout. and applied strap handle, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a parrot perched on a leafy branch. Excellent color and desirable small size. Large T-shaped hairline on underside, continuing a few inches onto base in three places. In-the-making scratch on reverse, which looks like a crack, but is not. Minor chipping to base. A few small spout chips. Some scratches to cobalt. H 11 1/2".
