Four-Gallon "C.L. WILLIAMS" Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crock, New Geneva, PA origin, circa 1875, straight-sided crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand straight and wavy stripes, stenciled leaves, and the stenciling "C.L. WILLIAMS / & CO. / BEST BLUE / STONEWARE / NEW GENEVA, PA." Brushed cobalt 4 at base. Cracks in underside, one of which extends onto base and forms an approximately 9" horizontal "Y". A few chips to one handle. Chip to end of opposite handle. Rim chips. Salt drip on left side of front. White paint near base on front. H 12 3/4".
