Slip-Decorated Redware Plate with Elaborate Bird Motif, Matawan, NJ origin, circa 1840, with coggled edge, decorated with a large bird with spotted breast and long tail, perched on a branch embellished with numerous leaves. Looping line design above and below bird. Excellent decoration. Provenance: William Kelly Young Collection. Flakes to interior. Two rim chips. Wear to rim. Diameter 11 1/4".
