Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Paddletailed Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and applied handles, decorated with a large brushed and slip-trailed cobalt bird with crest and paddle-shaped tail, perched on a flowering vine. Significant restoration to reverse, extending under one handle. Significant restoration to underside. Small rim chip. Chipping to base. H 10 1/2".
