Cobalt-Decorated Philadelphia Advertising Jug, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870 straight-sided jug with rounded and tooled shoulder culminating in a thick spout. Impressed with the advertising "HOPKINS & M'ELVENEY. / No. 612 MARKET ST." Advertising is highlighted in cobalt and surrounded by cobalt brushwork. Tiny chip to reverse side of spout. Small base chip. 3" vertical line from base on reverse continuing onto underside 1". Other short, thin lines at base, which appear to be in-the-firing. Staining to surface. H 9 3/4".
