Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "HW BROUGHTON & Co / FAIR-HAVEN / Conn.," circa 1870, straight-sided jar with rounded shoulder, tall collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a cobalt chicken pecking atop kernels of corn atop of patch of ground accented with shrubs and grasses. Rim chip and two small rim nicks. Small chips to interior of rim. Some small flaked spots to surface. H 13 1/2".
