Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Soap Dish, probably New York State origin, mid 19th century, oval soap dish with applied handles, large drain hole below one handle, and punctured holes in top surface. Tooled bands around midsection with overlying compass decoration on the front and back, highlighted in cobalt blue. A virtually unknown form in American stoneware. Shallow base chip. Otherwise mint condition. H 3" ; Length 7".
