Three Pieces of Maryland Stoneware, American, 19th century, a cylindrical jar with brushed cobalt swag decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840; a cylindrical jar with brushed floral decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1850; and a Bristol-slip-glazed shoulder jug with the advertising, "F. Columbus Knott, / FANCY GROCERIES, / FREDERICK, MD." Swag-decorated jar with hairlines to underside, continuing onto base, an in-the-firing base chip, rim chips, a short in-the-firing fissure to interior of rim, an a few in-the-firing pings to surface. Floral-decorated jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Jug with a large spout chip, small chips to shoulder molding, a 3 1/4" horizontal line at base on reverse, a 2 1/2" line on underside continuing 3 1/2" up base, and staining to surface. H (of jug) 11 1/2".
