Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Huntington, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim with inner ledge for lid, featuring the stenciled advertising, "HAGAN BROS., / DEALERS IN / STOVES AND / HARDWARE. / HUNTINGTON, W. VA." Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by stenciled floral devices. Two salt drips to reverse. A 5/8" base chip on front, possibly in-the-firing. A small chip and minor nicks to inner rim for lid. H 12 1/2".
