Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Vase with Applied Bird's Nest and Foliate Designs, probably Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1885, ovoid form with scalloped collar and depressed sides, decorated around the body with hand-modeled and applied leaves, some with berries, one side features a hand-modeled and applied bird's nest with eggs, all highlighted in cobalt. Salt-glazed exterior and Albany-slip-glazed interior. A wonderful example of utilitarian stoneware's convergence with the American Art Pottery Movement. Significant losses to leaves. H 6".
