Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Greenup, KY Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1885, tapering jar with rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "WOMACK BROS. / GENERAL / MERCHANTS. / GREENUP, KY." Freehand stripe decoration above and below. The first example of stoneware advertising this town that we have offered. Inner wax sealer rim with a 1 1/8" chip and two minor chips. Interior of rim with a small chip and a few minor nicks. Light wear to cobalt. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing, glazed-over line at base on front, extending 1" onto underside. H 10".
