Fine Vertical-Handled Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAW.S / STONEWARE," Thomas W. Commeraw, Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, circa 1800, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and applied vertical handles, decorated with impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motifs on the front and reverse. Impressed "COMMERAW.S" on the front and "STONEWARE" on the reverse. Brushed cobalt highlights to impressed marks and handle terminals. Very nice condition for this form. Numerous short, minor lines at base. Base with a 3/4" chip and a few minor chips. Shallow chipping around rim. H 9 1/2".
