Glazed Redware Dish with Two-Color Slip Decoration, Alamance County, NC origin, circa 1820-1850, flaring dish with rounded rim, the interior decorated with alternating stripes of manganese and yellow slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Typical heavy wear to interior. Wear and old, smooth chips to rim. A 1 1/4" crack to interior base, not visible on underside. Underside with 1 1/2" surface crack on underside, forming a curving surface crack extending partway up wall of bowl. Underside with an additional 3" curved surface crack or in-the-making fissure, not visible on interior, and two surface flakes. Diam. 9 1/2" ; H 2 1/4".
