Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, American, second half 19th century, a one-gallon ovoid jar with brushed floral motif on front and reverse, highlights to handle terminals, and dashes below each handle, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1860; paired with a three-gallon crock, stenciled "JAS. BENJAMIN. / STONEWARE / DEPOT. / CINCINNATI, O.," OH origin, late 19th century. Provenance: Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. Remmey jar with a small rim chip, a minor rim nick, a 1 1/16" base chip, a minor, glazed-over ping to base, and some staining. Ohio crock with a large spider crack across underside, forming a 3 3/4" vertical crack on front with a long horizontal crack extending off from this crack along base. Additionally, two chips to interior of rim, a 4" vertical line on reverse, and tacky residue from use to surface. H (of Remmey jar) 9 1/2".
