Rare Early-Period Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher and Bowl Set, Signed and Dated "Lanier Meaders / 4-7-69," Cleveland, GA origin, 1969, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection, pinched and cut rim, and upswept rounded handle with applied thumb rest, the surface covered in a grayish alkaline glaze, paired with its original bowl with footed base, tooled shoulder, and rounded rim, featuring a matching glaze. Both incised on underside with Lanier Meaders signatures, the bowl further incised with the unusual addition of the date, "4-7-1969." Provenance: Golden Memories Auction, Mountain City, GA, 2011; Frank W. White Collection. Both in excellent, essentially as-made condition. H (of pitcher) 9 1/2" ; Diam.
