Scarce Early-Period Glazed Stoneware Lidded Jar with Grapes Motif, Signed "Lm," Lanier Meaders, Cleveland, GA, circa 1960s, ovoid form with rounded rim and applied vertical loop and horizontal strap handles, modeled after a Southern churn form, decorated on the front and reverse with a hand-modeled and applied cluster of grapes flanked by leaves with looping stem above, each brushed over in two different shades of blue slip. Surface covered in a streaky whitish glaze over a white clay body. Includes original lid with pointed finial and oatmeal-colored glaze. Underside incised "Lm," a desirable, early form of signature for this potter. Provenance: Frank W. White Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11 1/4".
