Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Vase with Three-Color-Slip Hummingbird Decoration, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA origin, circa 1960s, tall, flaring vase with rounded shoulder and short, flared rim, decorated in cobalt, blackish, and green slips with a flying hummingbird feeding on a flowering vine. Lightly-incised details to hummingbird, flowers, and leaves. Surface covered in a grayish alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. A rare early work by Lanier with desirable subject matter, possibly decorated by Arie or with her influence. Provenance: Frank W. White Collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 13".
