Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird and Floral Decorations, Stamped "TYLER & CO / TROY NY.," circa 1860, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with heavily-spotted body, perched on a scrolled stem, flanked by spotted floral motifs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Some oversalting to decoration. A 2 1/2" line to spout. A 1 3/4" in-the-firing chip to underside near edge. Some reddish spots of staining to surface. A small piece of adhered clay to shoulder on proper left side and a small in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder on proper right side. Two small in-the-firing contact marks to handle. H 13 1/4".
