Glazed Redware Jar, Inscribed "A," attributed to the Cain Pottery, Sullivan County, TN, possibly Abraham Cain, circa 1850-1880, ovoid jar with footed base, flaring, flattened rim, and incised straight and wavy line decoration to shoulder. Surface covered in a mottled lead-based glaze, probably colored with iron. Underside incised "A," possibly for Abraham Cain. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Two in-the-firing chips to top of rim. One post-firing chip to side of rim. H 5 1/4".
