Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with an undulating vine bearing leaves. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake to midsection. A 1 1/8" rim chip. Some light surface wear and staining. H 12 1/2".
