Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, attributed John Wesley Carpenter, Piper's Gap, Carroll County, VA, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and arched lug handles with depressed terminals. Surface coated in a whitish slip and covered in a heavy salt glaze. Excellent condition with shallow chipping and wear to bottom edge of jar. H 14 1/2".
