Five-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Churn, AL origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid churn with flaring collar, the shoulder with applied vertical-strap handle on one side and horizontal handle on opposing side, the surface covered in a glossy, gray-green alkaline glaze. Incised "5" at shoulder. Excellent condition with one rim chip and some in-the-firing fissures to underside, not visible on interior. H 18 1/2".
