Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Southern U.S. origin, late 19th or early 20th century, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and arched lug handles, decorated around the shoulder with incised scalloping below a band of incised combing. Surface covered in a mottled, olive-colored alkaline glaze with traces of rutile below rim. Impressed "3" at shoulder. A 3/4" chip to proper right handle, adjacent to a 3/4" glazed-over chip. Light wear to edge of opposing handle. A 1 1/4" in-the-firing flake to underside. H 13 7/8".
