Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Catawba Valley, NC origin, circa 1850-1880, highly-ovoid jug with tooled spout and ribbed handles, the shoulder decorated with scalloped incising flanking a band of incised horizontal lines. Surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. A 1 1/4" flake to handle. An adhered in-the-firing drip to shoulder on reverse. H 16".
