Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Buncombe County, NC origin, second half 19th century, ovoid jar with slightly-flared rim and arched lug handles, the surface covered in an alkaline glaze featuring heavy olive and dark-brown runs to the upper body a reddish-brown coloration below. Asterisk stamped at base. Heavy chipping and wear around rim. Chips and heavy wear to handles. Some small flakes and minor sporadic wear to body of jar. H 14 3/8".
