Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Catawba Valley, NC origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with flaring, rounded rim, arched lug handles, and incised drape motif around shoulder, the surface covered in a mottled olive-colored alkaline glaze. Incised "2" at shoulder. A 1 1/2" rim chip. Heavy chipping to one handle. A 1 5/8" flake to opposing handle. Some wear to rim and inner rim for lid. A small base chip. A minor in-the-firing ping to one side. H 11 1/2".
