Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Open Handles, SC or GA origin, late 19th century, ovoid jar with narrow, flaring rim and two thin, open-strap handles applied at the shoulder, the surface covered in a striated olive-to-blue-gray alkaline glaze. Wahler describes this jar in her notes as "Union Co., SC. . . bought it for GA." Provenance: Purchased from Billy F. Allen, Little Street Gallery, Commerce, GA. A 1 1/2" flake to rim. Minor traces of old red paint to surface. H 18 1/4".
