Alkaline-Glazed Handled Stoneware Jar, attributed to W.F. Hahn, Trenton, Edgefield County, SC, late 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, slightly-flared rim, and applied handle on reverse, the surface covered in an attractive olive to brown alkaline glaze with high gloss. Rim chips. Wear to inner rim for lid. Light wear to handle. A tight surface line across underside, extending a short distance onto base in two places, not visible on interior. A thin inverted Y-shaped crack descending approximately 3 1/2" from rim, including a minuscule flake along crack. A thin, approximately 6" crack from rim, including two minuscule flakes along crack. H 8".
