Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Pitcher with Iron Oxide Decoration, attributed to the Thomas Owenby Pottery, Union County, SC, circa 1860, ovoid pitcher with flaring collar and ribbed handle, decorated at the shoulder with incised horizontal combing between two rows of incised scalloped combing, the surface covered in a glossy, olive-colored alkaline glaze with iron-oxide splotch decoration on one side. Very nice condition with a spout chip, a rim chip, and some additional wear to rim, spout, handle, and pitcher's midsection. H 10 1/4".
