Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Two Slash Marks, Edgefield District, SC origin, probably David Drake, mid 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and arched lug handles, the surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze with darker brown hues ascending the front. Incised with two slash marks at the shoulder. Base broken out and reglued in one complete circular section with some flakes and chipping along the break. Some additional minor chipping to jar's bottom edge. A minor nick to one handle. Shoulder with some in-the-firing pings and small in-the-firing contact marks. A 2 1/2" hairline from rim. Light rim wear. H 12 1/4".
