Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Iron-Slip Floral Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, ovoid jug with small, semi-squared spout and ribbed strap handle, iron-slip-decorated with a "broken stem" floral motif with "3" inside its blossom. Gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. A large restored flake to front of spout, not visible on interior. Staining around base. A base chip. Minor wear and minor staining to surface. A base chip on reverse and few minor base nicks. H 15 3/4".
