Fine Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Stamped "II," attributed to the Reverend John Landrum Pottery, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1810-1830, spherical jug with tooled spout, the surface covered in a mottled brown to gray-green alkaline glaze. Three incised punctates to shoulder, denoting three gallons. Stamped "II" at base. Outstanding, sculptural form, more bulbous than is typically associated with this pottery. A thin, sealed spider crack on underside, including two faint lines extending onto base area and a thin, approximately 7 1/2" crack ascending front, difficult to see. Minor surface wear. Minor base chipping. H 14 1/2".
