One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with a tulip plant featuring an open blossom and bud. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with two minuscule rim chips on front, a minor glazed-over rim chip on reverse, and a smooth, discolored in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. H 9 1/2".
