Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Stamped "E.J. BROWN / Evan's / HANDMADE / ARDEN, N.C.," third quarter 20th century, circa ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including circular eyes with applied china pieces, nose with carved nostrils, curved ears, and open mouth with applied broken china teeth. Surface covered in a glossy olive glaze with amber tones and lighter flecking throughout. Underside impressed with E.J. Brown signature and other marks. Unusually large size for this maker. Handle broken into three pieces and reglued. Two chips to proper left ear. One chip to proper right ear. A chip to reverse of spout. H 12".
