Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Churn, Stamped "J P BODIE / MAKER," Kirksey's Crossroads, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1870, semi-ovoid churn with flared collar and arched tab handles, the surface covered in a mottled gray-green to olive alkaline glaze. Provenance: The Georgeanna H. Greer Collection of Important American Stoneware, Harmer Rooke Galleries, New York, NY; from a long-term SC collection. A 1 3/4" flake to proper right handle. A 1 5/8" flake to proper left handle. A 1 3/8" rim chip above proper left handle. A 3" crack on underside, forming a long horizontal crack at base. H 13".
