One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Asterisk Decoration, Stamped "N. White, Utica.," NY State origin, circa 1840, highly ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a bold asterisk at the shoulder and a highlight to the maker's mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Base reglued including filled and colored flakes along break, including a thin 3 1/2" line ascending from it. A sealed 1 1/2" line from spout on reverse. Some spalling to cobalt. H 11 1/4".
