Scarce Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Syrup Jug with Cleveland, NY Advertising, attributed to the White's Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, squat-shaped jug with flared and pinched pouring spout, the surface covered in a Bristol-type glaze and stenciled with the cobalt advertising, "C. E. ORR & SON, / SYRUP & JUG / 32 CTS. / CLEVELAND, N. Y." Unusual stenciling including the price of the product. Provenance: James Chebalo Collection. A spout chip. Two in-the-making scratches to shoulder. H 9 1/2".
