Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Washington, D.C. Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "E. LULLEY / 616 / PENN AVE. / WASHINGTON, / D.C." Freehand stripe decoration to upper body and base. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. Lesser-seen advertising for female merchant, Elizabeth Lulley. Significant glued cracks to reverse/proper right side extending onto front, including a 2 1/4" x 2" reglued piece on proper right side of jar. Minor traces of old orange paint to exterior and heavier traces on interior. A lean to the rim. A discolored in-the-firing contact mark at base. H 12".
